Unless you really frequent the slopes, almost nothing in this world can prepare you for a brand-new pair of snowboard boots.
I’m no Shaun White, but I pride myself on being able to slide down the hill all day without dying. At the very worst of my chronic pain days, when I had injured my back, I had to take a few years off in order to heal, so I’ve only been up a handful of times since then.
This weekend, for a short trip, my boyfriend took me up to Snow Summit ski resort, near Big Bear. When I saw how the snow had been falling the last couple of weeks, I knew it would be an intense day on the slopes, but I was excited to see how well I could do.
Luckily I had a trusty flower vaporizer on the mountain with me that I couldn’t wait to try out – the Summit by Vapium. Their ads and social media are filled with hikers and snow bunnies taking the vape for a spin, so I decided I had to give it a go in its intended set and setting.
The device is pretty genius – it’s small enough and clippable onto a lanyard, has 4 adjustable heat settings and a single-action button system to heat, and vibrates when it’s ready. The flower chamber is guarded by a magnetic cap to keep your herbs from blowing away in the wind, and it stays heated for a minute so that more than one person can share – perfect for a toke on the chair lift. I was actually pleasantly surprised that it worked so well.
Between the sore and bruised ankles from my boots, and soft muscles from taking a year off, I was regretting not training ahead of time for this little snow weekend. Granted, I haven’t really been running or doing strength training the last few months, either, so it was a fitness wake-up-call in itself, even though it was just a fun day trip.
I’m so sore now that it’s inspired me to get back on my abs and weight training even more. I can’t wait for my next snow trip so I can prove myself again and have even more fun…with slightly more muscle tone.
Anyone else get some mean cross-training on the slopes this season?
I need to check into this guy! I just got my first vape, which I love, but it isn’t great 😢

This one runs a bit pricey, but if you need it windproof, it does its job!
